The Rooze originally began in a small apartment in Gainesville, Florida with jam sessions between group founders David Farb and Brandon Cook. After discovering their similarities in musical influences and writing styles, the two began collaborating on some of the first Rooze songs, writing tunes such as La-de-da and Stand Alone.
David and Brandon searched for other musicians to form a band when David was introduced to past drummer, Peter Lanzarone. With no shortage of parties in Gainesville, the group was playing at houses all over town doing cover songs and occasionally throwing in some originals. They jammed with other musicians to find a fourth member, but were unsuccessful before Brandon and Peter were graduating from The University of Florida.
But David did not let The Rooze die there.
He found past drummer Greg McCracken, who brought a new rockin' edge to Farb's original music. Once again, The Rooze was on the hunt for other musicians. Unable to find the right guys to really lock in The Rooze sound, Farb called up Brandon and convinced him to move back to Gainesville and resurrect what began in Brandon's apartment just 2 years before.
With Brandon back in the group, they began writing new material, which produced two albums and took their shows and music to other cities and festivals around Florida. But as The Rooze grew, Greg realized he did not have the time to commit to the band anymore.
As luck would have it, Brandon's room mate's best friend was a drummer. Nico Galfond joined the group September 2010 taking over full time in the band. Nico is a percussion performance major at UF, bringing a more technical aspect to the group that has never been seen or heard before.
